Harare, 13 October 2026 — A routine lecture turned into a joyful celebration on Monday, 12 October, as the 2026 Sophomore class at United Theological College (UTC) came together to mark the birthdays of two of its ministers-in-formation.
The birthday honorees were Mr Lewanika Moyo, who celebrated his 40th birthday, and Rev. Rickson Mutamiswa, who welcomed a new decade as he turned 30. Their special moment unfolded during a lecture facilitated by Rev. Nyaradzai Mandevana, bringing a welcome pause in the day’s studies and an opportunity for the class to celebrate life, friendship and shared purpose.
What began as an ordinary lecture soon gave way to laughter, song and warm fellowship. Classmates gathered to congratulate the two, give thanks to God for the gift of life, and reflect on the journey they share as they prepare for ministry.
The celebration featured a cake-cutting, snacks and drinks, along with prayers, a cheerful song and words of encouragement. The atmosphere was one of genuine joy and appreciation—not only for the birthdays being marked but also for the bonds formed within the class community.
In his remarks and prayer, Rev. Mandevana described the gathering as a beautiful reminder that UTC is more than a place of learning. It is also a family: a community that celebrates together, supports one another in prayer and grows together in faith and service.
As the two begin another year of life, the college community joins the sophomore class in wishing them abundant grace, good health, and strength for the road ahead. May their continued preparation for ministry be marked by wisdom, compassion, and faithful service in the Lord’s vineyard.
