The United Theological College (UTC) emerged as the biggest winner at the Association of Colleges for Theological Education in Zimbabwe (ACTEZ) 2026 Sports Finals, held last Friday, the 16th of October 2026 at AFM Living Waters Theological Seminary.
In a remarkable display of talent, teamwork and sportsmanship, UTC clinched all three major trophies on offer, taking top honours in soccer, netball and volleyball.
In soccer, UTC lifted the ACTEZ Soccer Trophy after a commanding performance, with Africa Multination For Christ College (AMFCC) finishing as runners-up. The dominance continued on the netball and volleyball courts, where UTC secured both the ACTEZ Netball and ACTEZ Volleyball trophies. LWTS and AFM Theological Seminary completed the podium in netball and volleyball respectively, securing second and third places.
The day, which brought together colleges from across the ACTEZ family, was marked by joyful fellowship, unity and meaty competition.
In the Biblical Debate category, while our representatives gave their all, the stars did not quite align for UTC. The College was represented by ministers-in-formation Rev. Lizzy Mupungu and Student Pastor Tinomutenda Zhou, who debated with conviction and grace. Despite their commendable effort, they narrowly missed out on the top positions this year.
The College congratulates the winners of the Biblical Debate, who demonstrated exceptional scriptural insight: Mr Richard Makore (1st Place), Mr Douglas Yobe (2nd Place), Mr Samuel Chiwewe (3rd Place), Ms Roseline Ndlovu (4th Place) and Mr Tinos Matipedza (5th Place). Each was awarded a Student Study Bible in recognition of their outstanding performance.
UTC extends its sincere gratitude to AFM Living Waters Theological Seminary for graciously hosting the finals and to the ACTEZ Organising Committee, match officials, and all participating colleges for their contribution to a successful tournament.
UTC celebrates this victory as a testament to the spirit of unity, discipline and excellence that defines our community.
