The Diploma in Religious, Society and Leadership Studies (DRSL) is a three-year academic programme offered by the United Theological College (UTC) in collaboration with the University of Zimbabwe. Established in 1993, the programme provides a strong foundation in religious studies, theology, and philosophy, while helping students understand the relationship between religion, society, and leadership.
The DRSL is designed for prospective ministers and church leaders, as well as for people seeking a broader education that can support careers in education, community development, public service, and other professional fields. Through academic study and practical engagement, students develop critical thinking, research, communication, and leadership skills. They are also encouraged to engage thoughtfully with the religious, social, cultural, and ethical issues shaping communities in Zimbabwe and beyond.
Programme Structure
The programme combines structured core courses with elective options, allowing students to build a broad academic foundation while exploring areas of particular interest. Learning takes place through lectures, seminars, independent study, research, and community engagement. The curriculum is organised across introductory and specialised levels, enabling students to progress from foundational knowledge to more focused and advanced study.
Digital literacy is also incorporated into the learning experience, helping students build skills for research, communication, and participation in an increasingly digital academic and professional environment. Research components and seminar participation further support students in developing the ability to investigate questions, evaluate sources, present ideas, and contribute constructively to discussion.

Graduates may pursue opportunities in a range of fields, including:
- Education and teaching
- Pastoral ministry and church leadership
