United Theological College was honoured on Thursday, 2 July 2026, with a generous donation of theological volumes from the family of the late Rev. Dr Liberty Mawire.
The gift was graciously extended by his surviving spouse, Retired Rev. Margaret Mawire, in memory of her late husband. Both Rev. Dr. Liberty Mawire and Rev. Margaret Mawire are distinguished alumni of United Theological College and dedicated members of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe.
The volumes were officially presented to the college by Bishop L. Nleya Rukarwa, the current Bishop of Harare West District of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, who delivered the donation on behalf of the Mawire family.
In accepting the gift, the college expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Mawire family’s ongoing commitment to theological education. The donation was received formally by Rev. Dr. Kupawasha Mtata, Principal of United Theological College, along with Rev. Joseph Bonga, Dean of Academics. During the handover, college leadership highlighted that the donated literature will significantly support students, faculty, and research efforts within the college community.
This gesture not only honours the legacy of Rev. Dr. Liberty Mawire but also represents a meaningful investment by Rev. Margaret Mawire in nurturing future church leaders trained at UTC. The college extends its sincere gratitude to the Mawire family and Bishop Rukarwa for facilitating this impactful donation.
