Harare, 6 April 2026 — The United Theological College (UTC) hosted a delegation from Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) on Thursday, 2 April, for an assessment of the college’s readiness to become an associated or autonomous degree-offering institution.
The due diligence assessment visit forms part of UTC’s efforts to strengthen its academic programmes and expand opportunities for its students. It also reflects the college’s commitment to meeting the standards required for degree-level provision and to continually improving the quality of its teaching and learning.
The delegation was led by Professor Lovemore Togarasei, Chairperson of ZOU’s Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy. He was accompanied by Dr T. Bishau, Dr K. Mukwenhu, Dr M. Chiwodza, Mr T. Matutu and Mr E. Borerwe.

During the visit, the delegates held discussions with UTC’s administrative committee and representatives from several faculties. The engagement provided an opportunity to review the college’s institutional readiness and to exchange perspectives on academic development, quality assurance and potential areas of collaboration.
The assessment is part of UTC’s broader strategy to build partnerships with other higher education institutions, share best practices and explore opportunities for mutual development. Establishing a pathway to degree-offering status would mark an important step in the college’s plans to strengthen and broaden its academic provision.
UTC said it remains committed to fostering a vibrant academic environment for its students and staff, while contributing to the wider community through quality education and ongoing collaboration.
